Most furniture crates are not built for dogs that chew. This one is. The large mesh panels are constructed to resist chewing rather than standard furniture crate panels that a determined dog can damage. The door has a reinforced escape-proof locking mechanism designed for dogs that push, paw and lean against it. It still doubles as a side table and has the warm walnut finish of the rest of the range.
Is this the right crate for your dog?
This crate is designed for dogs who chew or attempt to escape standard furniture crates. If your dog is calm and already settled with crating, any furniture crate will do. If your dog actively chews panels or has escaped a crate before, this is the more appropriate choice.
The chew-resistant mesh panels significantly reduce chewing damage but should not be treated as fully indestructible. Dogs that destroy wire crates need a heavy-duty metal crate, not a furniture crate of any kind.
Does it fit your dog?
Measure from the nose to the base of the tail and add 10 to 15cm. For height, measure floor to the top of the head when sitting and add 10cm. Those are your minimum internal dimensions.
Internal dimensions: 78.5cm W x 51.5cm D x 62.5cm H
External dimensions: 80cm W x 55cm D x 72cm H
Always compare your dog to the internal figures. This crate suits medium dogs up to 50cm body length. Typical breeds include Beagles, Westies, French Bulldogs, Dachshunds and Border Terriers.
Also available in this range: Extra Large (116.5cm internal).
Before you buy
-
Active chewer? This crate is the right choice. Chew-resistant mesh panel construction, reinforced door lock. Still supervise initially — no furniture crate is fully indestructible.
-
Escape artist? The reinforced escape-proof door locking mechanism specifically addresses dogs who work latches or push doors open.
-
Not yet crate trained? Start with a wire crate first even with this product. Building the positive association before introducing the enclosed design makes the transition easier.
-
Heavy chewer that destroys wire crates? A furniture crate is not appropriate regardless of construction. A heavy-duty steel crate is the correct solution.
Practical questions
Is the finish pet-safe?
PawHut does not publish independent safety certification for the board or finish. We recommend airing the crate for 24 to 48 hours before first use, especially if you notice a new-wood smell on unboxing.
Can I use it outdoors?
No. Wood-based panels warp and swell when exposed to moisture. Indoor use only.
How do I clean it?
Wipe the crate body with a lightly damp cloth. Do not soak the panels.
How long does assembly take?
Typically under an hour. All fixings are included.
What if it does not fit my dog?
Free returns on all orders. If the crate is not right, contact our UK support team and we will sort it.
