Black and White Bone Inlay 2-Drawer Console Table with Chevron Front – 110cm

The pattern is hand-applied bone inlay. Individual pieces of white bone are set into the black ground in a chevron that runs across the top and carries on, uninterrupted, over both drawer fronts. That continuity is the tell of proper inlay work — it has to be laid out as a single composition rather than panel by panel, which is why the angles line up when the drawers are closed. Light catches them differently through the day, so the piece reads sharp in morning sun and softer under a lamp at night.

Underneath the decoration is ordinary good sense. An MDF carcass on a black metal base gives it enough weight to sit still on a hard floor, and at just 40cm deep it holds a lamp, a tray and a week of post without narrowing a corridor to a squeeze. The drawers run on smooth glides and close on cast floral knobs. Wipe it with a soft cloth, skip the abrasive sprays, and the inlay will look the same in five years as it does on day one — bone is set into the surface, so unlike a printed finish there is nothing on top to wear through.
